Prayer Service Canceled… Still Pray

While our prayer service is canceled for tonight, prayer is still on! Be praying for our missionaries Jonathan & Cheryl Schmutz and our elected official justice Robert G. Bell.

Also, this week’s Sunday School hour from 9:45-10:45a will be replaced by our regular prayer service.

Our Journey Continues… Thank You for Your Help Along the Way!

The past few months have been quite trying here at Community Baptist Church. I sat down today to write a letter of thanks to those churches, and individuals, who have gone out of there way to help us in a variety of ways. I also decided to put this little video together to show the Journey we’ve been on.

Our Journey continues, but we wanted to take a moment to stop and thank everyone who has helped us along the way.

We’re Back in the Basement… Sort of.

This afternoon we completed our first business meeting held in the basement of the church since the flood of 2011. It’s been a long road and a lot of work. It was a joy to be able to take this picture of our membership who have stuck with it through the hardship of the last year.

We’re not quite done, but we’re making more progress. I want to thank all the churches and individuals who have lent a hand in helping us get to this point. I’d also like to invite anyone who is willing to lend us a hand down the road. If you would like to help work on the church feel free to join us on Wednesday mornings from 9:30am to noon. Making Progress in the Basement

We’re making progress in the basement. This video is a bit dated but what you can see is that a few walls have been taken out, the kitchen has been expanded and a new “serving window” has been laid out. Basically we’ve been stripping boards, cleaning the floors, and framing out the new floor plan. This gives a pretty good idea of what the new basement will look like. Once we start putting up walls I’ll post another video!

Cleanup Underway at CBC and Across Apalachin

The cleanup has begun at community Baptist church. We are working hard to get our basement cleaned up and functional again. It will probably be weeks (maybe months?) before we get it all put back together. The church had about 3 – 4 ft of standing water in the basement. This means that just about everything below that point has to go. That includes the drywall, and insulation.

We have already received an incredible amount of help from folks within our congregation as well as those from Endicott Family Bible Church. As people begin to be called back to work, help will grow more and more scarce. If you can lend a helping hand, even for a few hours, please let us know.

Also, if you need help, let us know that as well. While we’re working hard to get the church moving we recognize that there are those who have been hit MUCH worse than us. If there is a need we’ll do everything we can to help. Contact Pastor Jeremy at pastor@cbcapalachin.com or call at 607-768-8189.

Please be in prayer as Apalachin continues to clean up. Our prayers go out to those who have lost everything they know.

This coming Sunday we will be having church in the sanctuary, although the basement will be off limits until further notice.

Cleanup Efforts Coming

Community Baptist Church has faced some serious flooding. But we haven’t been hit nearly as hard as our community. At the beginning of next week we will be starting to do cleanup in the church and in the homes in the surrounding areas. We hope to begin work on the church sometime on Sunday and then go into homes throughout the week.

There will be no worship services on Sunday September 11th due to flooding. However, that does not mean we will not be serving the Lord.

All the helping hands we can get would be great! Also, pleas feel free to contact us for help. We’ll do all we can to help and if we can’t help we’ll do our best to direct you to organizations that can.

Summer Bible Conference!

We’re gearing up for another string of great speakers and musicians as we head into our 7th annual Summer Bible Conference between Community Baptist Church, South Apalachin Baptist Church, South Owego Bible Church, and Warren Center Baptist Church.

VBS Cancelled for 2011

Community Baptist Church has decided to step away from Vacation Bible School this year as we seek to re-focus our attention and resources on one-to-one discipleship and building our current ministry.

Don’t fret! Vacation Bible School is still happening around our community. We recommend you check out Twin Orchard’s Baptist Church’s VBS or South Apalachin Baptist Church’s VBS.
